Skerved Geo - Beta

geo.skerved.se · Map-first geography study packs

Getting started

Skerved Geo is a desktop study tool: open a module, practice a pack on a map, and come back when items are due.

  1. Modules are topics (countries, flags, phone codes…). Open one to see its packs.
  2. Packs are sized slices. Start with unlocked ones; locked packs open when you have a foothold on their prerequisites.
  3. Practice uses Find on map, Name it, and sometimes Plonk or Pick - plus Review due for checkups.

Due

Due means the checkup wait is over. The Home line counts due items across modules. Open a module and use Review due there, or practice inside a pack.

Memory in short

Right answers lengthen the wait (Familiar → Known → Solid). Misses shorten it again. One correct click is not mastery.

Inside a module, How it works explains pack cards, edge colors, badges, and training packs together.

How it works

A pack card has three progress cues:

  1. The colored left edge - overall pack depth
  2. The Familiar / Known / Solid badges - memory shares
  3. The Find / Name pills - practice coverage (not memory)

Example card

Western Europe (12) Familiar 85% Known 45% Solid 10% France, Benelux, Alps neighbors, Iberia.
Find coverage 80% Name coverage 55% 4 due

Left edge of the card

Look at the thin strip on the left - that is the pack’s overall depth summary:

  • Not started - unlocked, but nothing practiced yet.
  • Started (amber) - begun; Known and Solid still under 25%.
  • Known-heavy (green) - Known is at least 25%.
  • Solid-heavy (teal) - Solid is at least 25%.
  • Locked - dashed border around the whole card. Finish the listed pack(s); use ? for the checklist.

Familiar · Known · Solid badges

Share of items in this pack at each step. Percents are cumulative: Known also counts under Familiar; Solid under both. Soft unlock needs enough Familiar or better.

  1. Familiar - held after an early checkup.
  2. Known - held after longer checkups (days to weeks).
  3. Solid - held after a long Known gap (~30 days), then rare checkups.

How long until the next checkup?

After each answer the app sets a wait. When that wait ends, the item is due again. Waits get longer as memory deepens:

  1. Just starting - short waits on purpose (~2 minutes, then ~15 minutes, then about an hour) so you can prove it again soon.
  2. Familiar - about 1-3 days.
  3. Known - about 1-4 weeks (grows toward ~30 days).
  4. Solid - about 2-4 months (not hours or days).

Miss after Familiar / Known / Solid → shorter waits again until you rebuild it (those items stay in Due). A Solid item does not come back in an hour unless you miss it.

Due and Review due

Due means the checkup wait is over - the to-do list. Not the same as Familiar / Known / Solid.

  1. Pack cards, Home, and Practice all show N due. The module line and Review due button count the whole module.
  2. Review due practices only those items. In practice, click the Review due tab again to switch Find ↔ Name for the whole session. Find / Name in a pack also mix in due items, but can teach new ones too.

Train packs together

Checkboxes appear when a pack can combine with another unlocked pack. Shared maps (or a module overview map) can be trained together. The bar appears from the first pick; Start practice needs two or more. Session only - progress stays on the shared items.

Settings

Settings

Local profiles, map prefs, and progress backups on this device.

Local profiles

Progress is saved only on this device - no accounts or cloud sync. Separate profiles share the browser; switch from Home, Module, Practice, or here.

Backup

Export all local profiles to a JSON file, or replace them from a backup. Clearing site data in the browser wipes progress unless you have a file.

Home modules

Uncheck to hide a module from the Home grid. Search still finds hidden modules. Progress is kept.

Map

Orientation layers on world maps (Countries, Capitals, Cities).

Reset this profile

Clears spaced-repetition progress for the active profile only.

Reset module / pack

Reset a whole module or a single pack inside it.

Unlock packs

Soft unlock normally needs practice on prerequisite packs. Use this to open a locked pack early (writes enough progress on its prerequisites). Your real review schedule for those items may change.
